A Case Study in Award Winning Construction

When QCI needed to expand their office space, the best option was to expand into an unused lower level. We brought the space to life with our construction expertise and our design-build perspective.
QCI started their expansion process in a more traditional method, hiring an architect and putting the project out to bid to multiple contractors.  Mitchell Design Build was invited to submit a bid for the project. We were ultimately awarded the project because our ability to think like design builders allowed us to offer some alternate design ideas which also provided cost savings. Working consultatively with the Architect of Record on the project, our design team helped seamlessly integrate the cost saving changes.

The project utilized a 4,400 sq. ft. unfinished space on the lower level of their existing building. The space was converted to ultramodern, clean, and efficient office space.  Our construction team constructed a functional and beautiful expansion that emulates the existing space on the main floor using a high-end frameless glass system with sliding glass barn doors, wood baffles, high-end OLED lighting, and a cutting edge, energy efficient VRF heating and cooling system.

Our team also worked tirelessly to ensure that the project, which also included minor changes within the existing office space on the first floor, didn’t disrupt daily business activities of the existing office space, which functioned through the entire construction process.

We took the space from unfinished to contemporary and spectacular, overdelivering on QCI’s expectations for the project.  This project was recognized as one of Rochester’s Coolest Spaces 2021 by the Rochester Business Journal.
